There was a surprise victory for Congresbury Ladies in the national Top Club competition played at home on June 27.
Despite earlier successes against Bath Weston and St Andrews, Weston-super-Mare, the home team went into this third round tie as the underdogs aganist previous title holders Portishead RBL.
With the match tied two-all, it was all down to shot difference and the eight shot victory for Ann King and Chris Wilcock in the pairs and a nail-biting 23-21 win on the rink saw Congresbury home.
The next round in mid-July will be against either Ilminster or Clevedon.
