The day of competition in almost perfect conditions ended with a fight for the top four places with Jasmine Jesters, finalists in previous years, winning for the first time.
The Jesters, Mike Carpenter, Mike Smith, George McAulay and John Williams, beat The Plough A team of Garry Poledri, Chris Haynes, Richard Davis and Wayne Richardson, in a closely fought 10-end final.
Prizes were presented by Gill Fraser, of Robin King Estate Agents with bowling club president Don Manning. Gill is pictured above with John Williams, Mike Smith, George McAulay and Mike Carpenter.
A total of 28 teams of novice bowlers took part in the competition. Supporters, who cheered them on from the sidelines, were full of praise for the annual event. “This was the best sportsmen’s day yet, superbly organised and wonderfully relaxed,” said one.
