For the first time lady bowlers won through to the finals of the annual Sportsmen’s Day at Congresbury Bowling Club. The Pink Ladies – Kate Vincent, Gemma Fisher-Sage, Elizabeth Storey and Margaret Barlow – lost to the Congresbruy Loafers – Phil Boreham, Tony Mortimer, Tony Palmer and John Day – in the final game. Thirty one Congresbury bowlers packed their woods and headed off for Spain on a 10-day jaunt of sea, sun and, of course, bowls. The journey went smoothly and the hotel was beyond expectation with smiley staff, heaps of food and drink and comfy rooms. But then we had to play bowls!
