On a cold Sunday afternoon Lucas Powell and Aaron Broom took to battle in the Junior Singles Final held at GB Britton. Four of Congresbury Juniors participated in the Somerset Under 18 Tournament at Weston St Andrews on Sunday 1st September. Lucas finished in 3rd place, while Kimi became the Champion.
Congresbury Bowling Club’s annual Sportsman’s Day, saw 24 teams compete with eventual winners Congresbury Football Club A getting the victory. The teams are divided into two groups and each team plays three timed matches. The winners of each group play each other in the final over 10 ends. As always this a fantastic community event where lots of village members take part and it puts “Congresbury Bowling Club” on the map during this annual event.
The trio of Madi, Kimi and Duncan have just won the inaugural Isle of Wedmore Mixed Triples Competition, they won 3 out of 4 games like 2 other teams did but they had a much bigger shot difference so congratulations to them all.
Two of Congresbury Juniors, Kimi & Madi particiapted in the annual Aussie Pairs Tournament held at Clarence Bowling Club, Weston Super Mare and came out winners! They won all their games in the group stage which progressed them into the final where they beat a team from West Backwell. We think they have made history as the youngest ever winners!
Congresbury Bowls Club maintained their usual high standard in the Clevedon Bowls Tournament. Two of Congresbury Juniors were in the annual Clevedon Bowls Tournament singles finals. Madi and Kimi both aged 17 had tough opposition in the final. Madi has made her English debut participating in The British Bowls Under 18 International Series at Belmont BC in Belfast, Ireland on Sunday 21st and Monday 22nd July. The competition included 3 Bowl Pairs, 2 Bowl Triples, and 2 Bowl Fours. Madi had a successful tournament in winning in all bar 1 of the pairs she played. Four junior bowlers represented Congresbury Bowls Club at the Bowls England Under 18 National Singles event at Oxford BC on 11th-12th May where they competed against some of the top junior bowlers in the country. The audience heard about the different forms of dementia, the ways it presents itself and the methods we should all learn about how to deal with those who have the disease.
