Ant Page DBE England played 12th June 2022

Ant played Sunday 12th June for the Disability Bowls England team, against Scotland, this proved a great day for Ant Page at Leamington Spa. Playing in the DBE England vs Scotland event he won his singles 21-12 & drew his pairs game 12-12 against the Scotland’s Commonwealth Games ladies’ pair. Congratulations and well played Ant !

Three of our Juniors part of Somerset’s U18 indoor team beating Wiltshire 48-27!

Madi King, Zach Broom and Aaron Broom (travelling reserve) were part of the winning team who beat Wiltshire 48-27 at Poole. Zach Broom is our youngest junior making his debut in the national competition at 9 years old and did extremely well playing Lead for Team King having rarely played Lead before.  The Somerset U18s were 12-8 down after 5 ends, but soon some high scoring ends followed to bring the final score to 48-27 Read more…

Madi King Congresbury bowler is Somerset’s Under 18 Player of the Year

It was the ‘icing on the cake’ for Madi King of Congresbury Bowling Club who was highly delighted when she was presented with ‘Under 18 Player of the Year Award’ by Somerset Bowls Association.     This followed a year in which Madi, aged 14 years, was a finalist in the County Under 25 ladies singles competition and, together with Katy Taylor, aged 14, were finalists in the U.25 ladies pairs.  Katy Taylor & Madi King with Bowls Read more…

Sportsmen’s Day at Congresbury Bowls Club

The club invited local teams to complete in its annual Sportsmen’s Day, cancelled in 2020 because of Covid restrictions. Despite a damp start, competitors were in high spirits, with many simply glad to be taking part. The tournament was reduced to 24 teams from is customary 28 to help manage numbers better and was won by Congresbury Cricket Club’s  Mike Fisher, Sam Evans, Joe Thompson and Jos Tomlinson. County Finals success

County Semi-final success 1st August and the County finals 8th August. Club open

2021 season: League and friendly matches have now restarted for the club. Internal cup competitions including Friday Night league have started for this season. Sunday morning 10am the junior members meet for coaching. Monday evening 6:00 -7:30 outdoor coaching is available. Clubhouse facilities are open following covid guidelines.          

2021 April Opening day

” The GMC is meeting on the 31st March to finalise opening arrangements following guidance from Bowls England and Somerset County which is still awaited at this time.  LATEST: “Club is planning to open 17th April with the Juniors 18th April”.
